The ESA-ESG Fund is headed up by a dynamic, professional and extremely balanced team. Bringing a broad wealth of international experience in both the finance and energy sectors.

ESA-ESG GP LTD EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS

Dr Heinz R Kubli

Heinz R. Kubli, Dr. oec. publ., graduated in Economics and Business Administrations from the University of Zurich. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). Until 2001, he worked in the Equity Derivatives Research and Risk Management Products of the investment banking division of UBS AG in Zurich. From 2001 until 2003, he held senior management positions at Bank von Ernst in Zurich, in the HVB Equity Linked Product Sales Team.

 

He is founder and managing principal of the independent asset management company Opus Capital Asset Management GmbH, Zurich, and the owner of Sensalis GmbH, Zurich, and a research company specialized in quantitative research. He is a member of the Swiss CFA Institute and the CFA Institute.

John (Jack) McGee

Jack has extensive experience in Regulatory and Corporate Compliance, with over 25 years in Project Development and Management worldwide. Qualified Post Graduate Diploma in Occupational Hazard and Risk Management, Diploma in Environmental Auditing: ISO 14001 (EMS), Diploma Quality Auditing: ISO 9001 (QMS), Diploma in Training and Assessment Systems and a Degree in Combat Engineering.

He is highly skilled in both steering Improvement Initiatives and methodical Risk Management through Quality Management Systems (QMS) Auditing to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.

Jack has worked for many years in various aspects of the energy sector for large multinationals, working on projects on a number of different continents and has in recent years run his own specialist worldwide consultancy company from Australia and Greece, where he currently resides.

NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS

Karen Haith

Karen has 27 years’ experience in the financial services industry in Guernsey mainly involved with alternative investment administration, then more recently Risk and Compliance Consultancy and Director Services. Karen is a qualified Accountant (FCCA), Chartered Company Secretary (ACIS) and has the IOD Diploma. Up until 2015, Karen was the Operations Director of a large fund administration business in Guernsey and since leaving that business has acted as a Non-Executive Director for a range of funds with an emphasis on closed-ended funds in the venture capital and private equity space.

 

Karen has acted as a Director since 2003 on more than 40 different GFSC regulated General Partner, Investment Manager and Investment Advisor companies. Karen has a full understanding of the regulatory environment.

Neil E Marais

Neil graduated from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, with a B.Comm in Management Accounting and subsequently qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in the UK. He has over twenty years’ experience in Financial Services with Park Square Capital and as CFO with SG Capital Europe, the former private equity arm of Société Générale.

More recently he served as a Director of Stenprop Limited, now listed on the London Stock Exchange, whilst also being the Managing Director of Stenprop Limited’s fund advisor, Stenprop Advisers Limited, which had in excess of £2 billion assets under management. Neil is now a full time independent non-executive director and resides in Guernsey.

 Dr Dale Simpson

Dale brings 25 years of solid engineering, design, managerial experience in the Renewable Energy field - covering Solar, Wind, Biomass, and Pyrolysis. An extensive career across broad energy fields from traditional Hydrocarbons through to Renewable Energy.

 

Dale was Educated at Assiniboine College, Brandon, Manitoba in Canada in the Mechanical Engineering CET Program. This was followed by a MSc in Petroleum Engineering at Pau University, Pau, France. He then obtained his PhD in Bio-Chemistry from the Swiss Biofuels Institute.

Ability to evaluate, design and programme the inception of renewable energy technologies, to budget and meet constructive deadlines. Dale has qualifications to train in respect to proper aspects of installation, maintenance, and operation of renewable energies. He is a pivotal member of the Investment Committee and resides in Italy.

The Investment Committee will make a recommendation to the General Partner for consideration of future projects and commence the approval process.
